Compensation & Benefits

Ardea Biosciences provides a competitive compensation and benefits package.  Our compensation package includes a market-based philosophy for base salary, a pay-for-performance cash bonus program and spot awards, and Company stock options.  In addition, our comprehensive Employee Benefits Program includes:


Health Insurance
includes medical, dental and vision which is available on the first day of the month following the date of hire.  We offer:


Medical
: 90% premium contribution for HMO plan and an 80% premium contribution for PPO plan paid by the Company through Blue Cross.   Either an HMO or PPO option is provided for you, your spouse or domestic partner and your children.


Dental
: 90% premium contribution will be paid by the Company toward the comprehensive dental plan sponsored through United Concordia.  Either a DMO or PPO option is provided for you, your spouse or domestic partner and your children.


Vision
: 90% premium contribution will be paid by the Company.  The Vision Service Plan (VSP) provides you, your spouse or domestic partner and children with an annual eye exam and frames and lenses coverage every 24 months through a participating vision provider.


Life and AD&D

A benefit of 2X salary for all regular employees up to a maximum of $600,000 is fully paid by the Company.  Additional Life/AD&D coverage is available for employee, spouse or children at the employee’s election and cost.


Short Term Disability

After seven days, State Disability  covers up to 55% up to the SDI maximum.  The Company partially supplements SDI until Long Term Disability begins.


Long Term Disability Insurance (Income Protection Plan)

The LTD benefit covers 66.23% of pre-disability salary, up to a designated maximum, after a 180 day elimination period.  Benefits may continue up to normal social security retirement age. Premiums are paid by the Company.


401(k) Plan (Tax-deferred Retirement Plan)

Our 401(k) plan offers employees the ability to set aside funds on a pre-tax basis into a retirement account.  Enrollment into the 401(k) can occur anytime after an employee is hired.


Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)

Our ESPP offers employees the ability to purchase Ardea stock at a discount of at least 15% of fair market value.  Employees can contribute monies post-tax through payroll deductions, and purchase stock at six month intervals.


Flexible Benefits Plan (Section 125)

Our Flexible Benefits Plan allows eligible employees to set aside funds on a pre-tax basis into a Flexible Spending Accounts to cover unreimbursed qualified medical care costs, as well as, eligible dependent care costs.


Transit and Parking Account (Section 132)

Our Transit and Parking account allows employees to set aside funds for public transportation, ride-share programs and parking expenses on a pre-tax basis.
